Affirmations are positive, assertive statements that we repeat to ourselves, with the aim of influencing our subconscious mind. They have the power to reprogram our thought patterns, which in turn can positively affect our actions and outcomes.
Our brains have an inherent bias to seek out information that confirms our pre-existing beliefs or ‘confirmation bias’. When we repeat positive affirmations, our brain seeks evidence to support these new, empowering beliefs, gradually leading us to act in ways that align with our stated affirmations.
The most effective affirmations are those that resonate with us personally, are positive in nature, stated in the present tense, and are specific. An example of a powerful financial affirmation might be, “I am a confident, savvy wealth creator who is open to abundance.”
For affirmations to work, consistency is key. Like any habit, they require repetition over time. Make it a daily practice to repeat your affirmations, ideally at the start and end of your day.
The power of affirmations lies in their ability to rewire our brains and reinforce new, empowering beliefs about wealth and abundance. By consistently repeating your financial affirmations, you can shift your money mindset from one of scarcity to one of prosperity.
